Whilst at university Alastair also worked in France running an activity centre for young adults, and at Nikon Metrology ensuring that the materials in their products were from environmentally sustainable sources.

Having graduated, Alastair then completed a PGCE (teacher training) at the University of Nottingham. He now works as the Head of Biology at one of Derby's leading secondary schools. He divides his free time between running, digital art and reading.
